Free radon awareness programs offered

You can’t smell it, see it or taste it. Radon gas is somewhat stealthy and can be present in some homes.

Thousands of preventable lung cancer deaths in the United States result from indoor exposure to radon gas, which enters buildings from the natural decomposition of uranium in the soil below.

January is National Radon Awareness Month, making winter the ideal time to test your home for radon and it’s easy to do.

Colorado State University Larimer County Extension is hosting four free radon awareness programs in January and February in Fort Collins, Estes Park, and Wellington. You’ll learn about the health effects of radon and also get a free radon test kit to test your home. Registration is required for all programs.
