Larimer County Engineering, the City of Loveland, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board [CWCB], will hold a public meeting to present draft floodplain maps produced through the Colorado Hazard Mapping and Risk Program [CHAMP] project for the Big Thompson River [Narrows to South Larimer County Road 9E] and Dry Creek. 

The meeting will be held November 14, 2018 at the City of Loveland Public Works Administration Building, 2525 West First St., Loveland, Colorado. The public meetings are another step in the process of adopting new floodplain maps for these streams, estimated to occur in 2020 – 2021.

Materials presented/provided at the CHAMP meetings are available at the Colorado Hazard Mapping and Risk MAP Portal website.

Draft floodplain maps produced through the CHAMP project are available at the Larimer County Floodplain Information website.

Staff from Larimer County Engineering, the CWCB, and the Town of Estes Park also conducted a public meeting May 27, 2018 in Estes Park to present the draft floodplain maps produced through the CHAMP project for Black Canyon Creek, Big Thompson River (Rocky Mountain National Park boundary to west end of the Big Thompson Canyon), Cedar Creek, Dark Gulch, Dickson Gulch, Dry Gulch, Fall River, Fish Creek, Fox Creek, Long Gulch, Noel’s Draw, North Fork Big Thompson River (above Glen Haven), Quillan Gulch, Tributary BT-1, Tributary BT-2, Tributary BT-3, and West Creek. 

Larimer County Engineering, and the CWCB conducted previous public meetings on October 10, 17, and 18, 2017 in Berthoud, Pinewood Springs, and Loveland, respectively, to present the draft floodplain maps also produced from the CHAMP project. The waterways included are the Little Thompson River, West Fork Little Thompson River, North Fork Little Thompson River, Dry Creek, Buckhorn Creek, Redstone Creek, and the Big Thompson River [meeting with Buckhorn Creek to Westridge Drive and South Larimer County Road 9E to Larimer-Weld County Line].
