The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today approved current Veteran Services Officer Lee Cooper’s position for another two years.

Cooper was initially appointed for a six-month term by the board in June 2019. Today’s appointment also increases the amount to time Cooper will work per week to 20, allowing him a greater presence in the community.

Cooper served eight years in the U.S. Army Reserves 324th Psychological Operations Company and was deployed for service in Iraq.

He has worked extensively with veterans in the community and been active for several years with the Veteran’s Plaza Advisory Board in Fort Collins.

After his military service, Cooper attended Colorado State University earning a master’s degree in business administration.

“I’m happy to support the appointment and happy to see that Lee is committed to doing this. He’s real passionate about serving his community and country. We’re real lucky to have him,” said Larimer County Commissioner Tom Donnelly.

Cooper’s initial 6-month term replaced previous Veteran Services Officer David Fry.
