Wellington Transfer Station

Location

The Wellington Transfer Station is located on County Road 70 (also known as Owl Canyon Road), between County Roads 7 & 9. From Wellington, go north on County Road 9, turn east on County Road 70, and the transfer station is about 1/2 mile down the road. Owned and operated by Larimer County, the transfer station is located on the site of the Wellington Landfill, which was closed in 1986.

The Wellington Transfer Station will be closed Sunday, March 23, for Easter.

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays
Also open Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day only.

Additional Information

The Wellington Transfer Station accepts household trash only. It cannot accept large items such as sofas or large wire spools. It also does not accept appliances containing refrigerants. These items should be taken to the Larimer County Landfill.

Household hazardous wastes like pesticides, paint thinners and cleaners must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at the landfill.

Checks are not accepted at the transfer station. All waste, regardless of type, size or weight - even trash in plastic bags - must be completely enclosed with a cover and secured to your vehicle. This policy is strictly enforced. Uncovered loads are charged double fees. Waste from outside Larimer County is charged 2 1/2 times the in-county fees.
