Red Mountain and Eagle's Nest Open Spaces Temporarily Closed

Department: Natural Resources
Release Date: Jul 31, 2014

Contact Information:

Travis Rollins, Open Lands Operations Manager (970) 498-5620

Red Mountain and Eagle’s Nest Open Spaces are temporarily closed due to recent heavy rain. Trails at Eagle’s Nest Open Space are currently too muddy for use. When the trails dry out the area will be re-opened.

Red Mountain Open Space suffered rain related damage to the roads and trailhead area. Crews are in the area evaluating the extent of the damage and what repairs need to take place. The open space will not be reopened to the public until repairs are completed. The department appreciates the public’s patience while repairs are being made to the area.
Visitors should check Larimer County Natural Resource’s Facebook page and @LCDNR for the latest updates related to muddy trail and weather related closures as conditions can change often.
