Two Larimer County fee changes take place July 1, 2014.
Annual inflation adjustment of Building Permit Fee Tables
In 2008, the Board of Larimer County Commissioners authorized the Building Department to annually adjust Building Permit Fee Schedule Tables 1-A, 1-B and 1-C based on the US Department of Labor/Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Denver-Boulder-Greeley, Colorado area.
Based on this year’s 2.77% increase in the regional CPI, the Building Department will adjust those fee tables accordingly, effective July 1, 2014, which will take effect at the same time as the adjustments to Larimer County Transportation Capital Expansion Fees. For comparison, the total building permit fee increase for a home valued at $250,000 will be about $75.
Transportation Capital Expansion Fees for 2014
Larimer County's Transportation Capital Expansion Fees for 2014 will increase by 2.2% from their 2013 values, effective July 1, 2014. Fee adjustments are based on construction cost index data compiled by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
As an example of what this change means, the transportation capital expansion fee (combined County and Regional road fees) on a new single family home will increase by $121, from $3,139 to $3,208. For reference, there was a 7.2% increase in capital expansion fee rates in 2013, a 2.8% increase in fee rates in 2012, and a 5.0% decrease in 2011. The County’s Transportation Capital Expansion Fees were $3,087 in 2009. The overall increase in the fees since 2009 is 3.9%.
A July effective date is consistent with the timing for adjustments to fees collected by the Community Development Division.
