Larimer County Coroner Office responded to the scene of a motor vehicle fatality in the 600 block of Harmony and Starflower, Fort Collins, CO  on February 11, 2017.

The deceased person at the scene has been identified as Traci Salazar, Age 32 of Fort Collins.

The decedent's two children were transported to Medical Center of the Rockies.  Alika Salazar, age 7 of Fort Collins died at Medical Center of the Rockies.

On 02/09/2018, the Larimer County Coroner's Office responded to the Medical Center of the Rockies to investigate the death of an individual who was involved in a motor vehicle crash.  The crash occurred on I-25 and the decedent was transported to MCR where she was pronounced dead.  The decedent was identified as Darienne Novack, 24 year old, of Fort Collins, CO.  A forensic autopsy was performed on 02/10/2018 by Daniel Lingamfelter, D.O.  

The manner of death is Accident.  The cause of death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries.

The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment has confirmed the first positive rabid animal in Larimer County of 2018, a skunk. This skunk was found in a neighborhood on the southeast side of Fort Collins near Portner Reservoir, and is the first rabid skunk identified in Fort Collins in the past five years.

Larimer County held a public informational meeting to discuss potential future roadway improvements along Douglas Road between Shields Street and Turnberry Road.  The purpose of this meeting  was to respond to resident concerns regarding the SH 1/Douglas Road intersection, traffic volume, truck traffic, and potential roadway and right-of-way changes along this segment of Douglas Road.  Materials presented at the meeting are now available.

Flu activity is high among Larimer County residents, with 147 hospitalized flu cases so far this year; of those cases, about two-thirds were age 65 or older. Eighteen long-term care facilities have also reported outbreaks in Larimer County. So far this season the predominant type of influenza is A(H3N2), which is likely to be more severe in adults 65 and older. Other people at risk for complications include pregnant women (and up to 2 weeks after giving birth), children under age 5 (especially under age 2), and those with chronic medical conditions.
