Body Recovered at Horsetooth Reservoir

On September 17, 2018, at approximately 2:33 p.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a 32-year-old man was swimming near the South Bay swim beach at Horsetooth Reservoir, went under the water, and did not resurface.

Loveland Colorado Shooting Death 9-4-18

On September 4, 2018 a Coroner Investigator responded to the scene of a shooting death in Loveland, Colorado.

The decedent is identified as Aric Whaley, age 17 of Loveland, Colorado.

Autopsy by James A Wilkerson, IV, MD, Larimer County Coroner was performed.

Manner of death is Homicide.

Cause of death is Shotgun wound to left upper chest.

No other information will be released by this office.

Explorers Host Open House

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 909 will host an open house for interested youth and their parents on Monday, September 17, 2018, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. This event will be held at the Sheriff’s Administration building located at 2501 Midpoint Drive in Fort Collins.

Motor Vehicle Fatality August 29, 2018

On August 29, 2018 Larimer County Coroner Office was notified of a motor vehicle fatality that occurred at Highway 402 and Charlotte Court (CR7), Loveland, Colorado.  Chief Deputy James MacNaughton responded to the scene. 

The decedent has been identified as Jesse Lucero, age 20, of Loveland, Colorado

Manner of Death - Accident

Cause of Death - Multiple Blunt Force Injuries.

Fall 2018 Landfill Update

THE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

I started at the Larimer County Solid Waste department in August of 2000. At that time, it was forecasted that the landfill would be “full” in 2003. The department was able to secure a vertical expansion in 2003 and now we are approaching the new end date for being “full”. If current volumes continue, the landfill will reach capacity around the end of December 2025.
