In 2020, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force (NCDTF) began an investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating in the region.   The organization was believed to be distributing large quantities of fentanyl pills and methamphetamine in Northern Colorado.  “Operation Two Birds, One Stone” began in early 2021 and targeted this organization bringing illegal narcotics into our community.  The investigation also revealed that some members of the organization were heavily involved in thefts and other property crimes.  Another common theme was the presence of numerous firearms.

With the assistance of several partner agencies, the NCDTF executed multiple search warrants on May 10 and May 19, 2021 at the following locations:

  • 500 block of Impala Drive, Fort Collins
  • 200 block of E. County Road 30, Fort Collins
  • 400 block of E. 57th Avenue, Loveland
  • 2400 block of Mountain View Drive, Loveland
  • 2500 block of 3rd Avenue, Longmont
  • 2200 block of Dexter Drive, Longmont
  • 2900 block of Black Fox Run Lane, Loveland

During Operation Two Birds, One Stone many items were seized, and thousands of dollars in stolen property was recovered.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Over 4,500 Fentanyl pills
  • Over 12 pounds of Methamphetamine
  • 22 firearms including some stolen, illegally modified, or fully automatic
  • Three improvised explosive devices
  • Over $50,000 of verified stolen property
  • Tens of thousands of dollars of suspected stolen property
  • Other dangerous drugs including heroin, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms
  • Credit card counterfeiting equipment
  • Narcotics distribution equipment

Fentanyl continues to have a significant impact on our community.  This year there have been several fentanyl overdose deaths in Northern Colorado. We believe some may be linked to this drug trafficking organization.
