On February 14, 2021, a Larimer County Natural Resources ranger noticed an unoccupied vehicle parked at Horsetooth Mountain Park.  The vehicle was still there on February 17, so a ranger learned the identity of the registered owner and contacted his family.  Family members confirmed they had not seen or heard from the 30-year-old Fort Collins man in several days.

LCSO Emergency Services, Larimer County Search and Rescue, and LCSO investigators responded to search for the man.  The search was suspended at dark due to extreme winter weather conditions.

The search resumed at 9:00 a.m. on February 18 with the assistance of search and rescue dogs and a drone.  A body believed to be the missing man was found around midday on the west side of Horsetooth Rock.

At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man was well as cause and manner of death at the appropriate time.
