The Board of County Commissioners on May 5, 2020 approved the funding recipients of the 2020 Behavioral Health Services Crisis Response Fund, following the recommendations of the Behavioral Health Policy Council.
The BHS Crisis Response Fund was established in April 2020 with initial funding totaling $100,000. The purpose of the fund was to make immediate financial support available to 501(c)(3) organizations that provide mental health/substance use treatment and/or services that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in Larimer County.
Nine organizations will receive funding through the BHS Crisis Response Fund:
- Health District of Northern Larimer County
- Boys & Girls Club
- Alliance for Suicide Prevention
- La Cocina
- Healing Warriors
- The Matthews House
- Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA)
- Crossroads Safehouse
- Center for Family Outreach
The Board of County Commissioners on May 5, 2020, approved increasing the initial amount of $100,000 by an additional $15,545 to meet the highest needs that were applied for through this grant process. The approved total of $115,545 will be distributed to the organizations to assist them with the following efforts: meeting increased demand for behavioral health services; adapting organizational delivery models to offer virtual services; and increasing community outreach and awareness.
The money designated for the Crisis Response Fund comes directly from the Board of County Commissioner approved the 2020 BHS Impact Fund which receives its funding through the 2018 voter-approved ballot initiative. The ballot initiative directs money from a 0.25% portion of county sales and use tax to support behavioral health needs in Larimer County.
