Larimer County Community Corrections Confirms Positive COVID-19 Case
On March 20, 2020, Larimer County government received confirmation that an offender in the Community Corrections program tested positive for COVID-19. The County will not release the name or personal details of the individual who tested positive.
Larimer County employees and other program offenders who have had direct contact with the affected individuals will be individually notified by the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment (LCDHE). LCDHE has started the case investigation and will be notifying close contacts in accordance with CDC guidance.
Larimer County is working to limit the spread of the virus to both the employees who work in the facility and the offenders that reside there. Beginning Sunday, March 22, 2020, all Larimer County Criminal Justice Service Area employees reporting for shifts and offenders at the facilities will fill out an electronic symptom report daily. This monitoring allows for a quick response if symptoms are identified.
“The health and safety of our employees and offenders is the highest priority of the Criminal Justice Services,” said Emily Humphrey, Larimer County Criminal Justice Services Director. “We are fortunate to have a collaborative relationship with the LCDHE and will continue to follow their guidance. We recognize the need to balance public safety and the public health of our employees and community.”
Information about COVID-19 is constantly changing, and the public health response adjusts as more is learned about this virus. LCDHE is encouraging Larimer County residents to view the latest credible information on COVID-19 at www.larimer.org/coronavirus or www.CDC.gov/coronavirus. Additionally, residents are encouraged to follow LCDHE’s Facebook and Twitter accounts at @LarimerHealth
