CSOC Scholarship Announcement

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith is pleased to announce that Dylan Malone is this year’s recipient of the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC) scholarship award for Larimer County.

CSOC, Colorado’s state sheriffs’ association, offered a total of 30 awards of $500 each this year to deserving high school and college students in Colorado to fund higher-level educational expenses for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Larimer County Offices, Courts, District Attorney, and Landfill will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2020 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Critical services at Larimer County are not disrupted by closures.

Motorcycle Fatality May 16, 2020

On May 16, 2020, a male died at the scene of a motorcycle accident on Shields Street in Fort Collins, Colorado. The crash occurred at approximately 1526.

Decedent is identified as Freddie Ruiz, Jr., age 42, of Fort Collins, Colorado. 

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple blunt force injuries

Motorcycle Fatality May 13, 2020

On May 13, 2020 a male died at the scene of a motorcycle crash on County Road 23 north of County Road 42C along Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins. The crash occurred at approximately 1857. 

Decedent is identified as Jacob Duncan, age 45, of Fort Collins, Colorado. 

Manner of Death: Accident 

Cause of Death: Multiple blunt force injuries

Motor Vehicle Fatality May 13, 2020

On May 13, 2020 a male died at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 287 and North Overland Trail near Laporte, Colorado at approximately 1658. The decedent was the passenger of the vehicle. 

Decedent is identified as Douglas R. Brower, age 29, of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Larimer County Public Health will be slowly allowing businesses to reopen under the new Safer at Home guidance the governor will be releasing soon.  Larimer County will adopt the governor's new stay at home orders with local guidance, education and enforcement.

Larimer County and Town of Estes Park Extend Orders Limiting Visitors to Estes Valley Through Closure of Accommodations

Larimer County Department of Health and Environment and the Town of Estes Park are extending the existing public health orders limiting visitors to Estes Park by closing short-term accommodations within the Estes Valley to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The orders were issued March 21 and will be extended through April 26, aligning with the current stay-at-home orders.
