Update - November 13, 2019

As the CIRT investigation into the officer-involved shooting continues, we’d like to share some additional information with the community.

On the evening of November 11, Loveland Police Department SWAT Team members entered the home on Cuchara Court and encountered a woman who refused multiple commands.  Preliminary findings suggest the suspect fired at officers, striking one of them in the ballistic helmet, after which multiple officers returned fire.  The SWAT member struck in the ballistic helmet was not seriously injured.

The SWAT members who fired their weapons were placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with Loveland Police Department policy.  LPD will release their names at the appropriate time.

On November 13, 2019, the Larimer County Coroner’s Office identified the man found deceased inside the home as 60-year-old Samuel Harding.  They identified the woman shot during the exchange of gunfire with SWAT members as 59-year-old Tammy Pierce.  Harding and Pierce were in a long-term relationship and lived together in the home.

The officer-involved shooting investigation and the death investigation of Mr. Harding will continue until the cases are presented to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Update - November 12, 2019

On Monday, November 11, 2019, at approximately 7:15 p.m., an officer with the Loveland Police Department responded to a residence in the 3300 block of Cuchara Court on a welfare check following a report of a possible homicide. The responding officer located a deceased male inside the garage.  The officer backed out of the garage and the Loveland SWAT Team responded to the scene to ensure no other victims were in the residence.

At about 8:30 p.m., members of the Loveland Police Department SWAT Team entered the residence and encountered an adult female suspect armed with a firearm.  The suspect was struck during an exchange of gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene.  No one else was found inside the home.

Due to the complexity of the 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team investigation into the officer-involved shooting and the death investigation of the adult male, additional details will be available in the coming days.  CIRT investigators are interviewing witnesses and involved officers.   Investigators are also still processing the crime scene.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call LCSO Investigator Ryan Myatt at 970-498-5162.
