After careful examination, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has selected Larimer County Director of Emergency Management Lori Hodges as a new member of their National Advisory Council.

Hodges was one of 14 other members from across the nation that FEMA Acting Administrator Pete Gaynor appointed to the council. She brings widespread knowledge of resilience and preparedness and years of emergency management to the board.

FEMA received over 90 applications to fill the 15 open board positions after an extensive review process that included senior FEMA leadership. They were chosen for their diverse backgrounds in finance, education and as emergency responders and emergency managers. Hodges will fill a Special Administrator selection for her general knowledge and expertise.

This year the NAC is researching ways to increase financial preparedness, resilience and finding ways to close the gaps in insurance.

The NAC is an advisory committee established by federal law to ensure effective, continuous coordination of federal emergency management. The NAC makes recommendations to FEMA on a variety of emergency management matters.
