Among Colorado’s largest counties, the exceptional performance of the Larimer County Department of Human Services was confirmed for again receiving the C-Stat Distinguished Performance Award for 2018 from the Colorado Department of Human Services.

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today recognized the Larimer County Department of Human Services for meeting performance expectations for several criteria set by CDHS in economic security, child support, adult protection, and child welfare.

C-Stat is a performance measurement tool that identifies specific areas of achievement, problem-solving areas and areas for improvement. Larimer County also received the C-Stat Award in 2017, one of only two counties to receive the award.

“All counties participate in these C-Stat measures and we get reports of where we rank among the other counties and we’re consistently number one or two in the state of Colorado,” said Larimer County Commissioner Steve Johnson. “Your caseload is pretty amazing, and we so greatly appreciate the great work you do.”

Larimer County met 18 out of 25 performance standards set by the Colorado Department of Human Services and came very close to meeting the remaining seven standards.

Larimer County also has one of the lowest congregate care levels in the State of Colorado. Congregate care is a placement for children in settings like group homes, and residential treatment centers.

“These guys do an amazing job with the resources they have and it’s supporting families and keeping kids safe,” said Commissioner Steve Johnson. “Whenever I get to talk to the staff, I tell them they’re angels because they really are.”

The department also met goals set for timely eligibility determination for public assistance, collecting significant levels of Child Support payments and helping public assistance recipients attain employment through the Colorado Works Program.

“I’d like to say that we appreciate the support of the county administration and Board of Commissioners. We’ve always had that and that allows us to do this great work,” said Larimer County Director of Human Services Laura Walker.
