On May 1, 2019, at approximately 5:23 a.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Murphy USA gas station at 4551 Weitzel Street in Timnath.  Deputies learned the owner of the vehicle left their Subaru running and went inside the gas station.  While the owner was inside, a woman was dropped off at the gas station by a blue Ford Mustang.  That woman stole the Subaru and fled westbound on East Harmony Road.  The Mustang also fled the area.

At about 6:45 a.m., a deputy saw a Ford Mustang in the parking lot of Costco at 4705 Weitzel Street in Timnath.  The Mustang matched the description of the vehicle associated with the earlier theft at Murphy USA.  As the deputy drove toward the Mustang, it sped away through the Costco parking lot.  The deputy pursued the Mustang as it sped northbound on Weitzel Street and through the red light at East Harmony Road.  A pickup truck traveling eastbound on East Harmony Road collided with the Mustang in the intersection at about 6:46 a.m.

The adult male driver of the Mustang was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the crash.  Deputies will seek criminal charges against the driver of the Mustang when he is released from the hospital.  One female passenger in the Mustang was identified as Brianna Lynn Reed (06/17/2000) of Casper, Wyoming and was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.  Reed was identified as the woman suspected of stealing the Subaru from Murphy USA and was arrested.  She was booked into the Larimer County Jail on allegations of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (class 4 felony), Vehicular Eluding Complicit (class 4 felony), and Theft (class 5 felony).  No bond has been set and a booking photo is not available at this time.  A second adult female passenger in the Mustang was treated for minor injuries and no criminal charges have been sought against her at this time.

The adult male driver and sole occupant of the pickup was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.

The intersection of East Harmony Road and Weitzel Street was closed for about 1.5 hours after the crash.  As of the time of this release, the Subaru has not been recovered.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
