Based on the Board of County Commissioners’ priorities and direction, Larimer County Manager Linda Hoffmann released the Proposed Larimer County 2021 Budget on October 15, 2020. The Proposed 2021 Budget is $581.8 Million which includes a Proposed 2021 Operating Budget of $286.8 Million and a 2021 Capital Improvements Budget of $185.9 Million.

At about 10:30 Thursday morning, 10/8/2020, the Larimer County Communications Center was advised that the Wyoming Highway Patrol was pursuing a stolen SUV southbound on I-25 into Colorado. Deputies responded to assist and the stolen SUV travelled into Wellington. The driver of the SUV abandoned it and stole another car that was in the driveway of a residence. Deputies located the newly stolen vehicle and pursued the suspect on I-25 southbound. Along the way, a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver was attempted but unsuccessful.

There is a lot of “noise” out in the world about the process of administering elections.  Everything, it seems, has been politicized.  As the local official accountable to you for these processes in Larimer, I am not going to go political.  I respect that some are concerned about how elections are conducted, and I am also very confident how things work here.  Let’s put the “noise” in context.

The Colorado Legislature passed a bill that granted County Treasurers the authority to waive delinquent interest from June 15, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2020, for 2019 taxes payable in 2020. Taxpayers may submit payment until Sept. 30, 2020, without penalty or delinquent interest. Beginning Oct. 1, 2020, interest will accrue at the statute-mandated 1% per month and be subject to advertising and distraint fees as scheduled.

On September 14, 2020, Larimer County Coroner’s Office responded to a death scene in Rocky Mountain National Park. Steven J. Grunwald, age 24 of Greenville, New York was found near McHenry’s Notch Couloir. A forensic autopsy was performed by James A. Wilkerson, IV, MD, Larimer County Coroner. Date of death was determined to be August 29, 2020.

On Sunday, 9/13/2020, at about 11 a.m., deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to a burglary in progress in the 2200 block of East Lincoln Avenue in Unincorporated Fort Collins. When they arrived, deputies located three vehicles, two trailers, and two adult males. Upon contact, one of the males fled the scene in a stolen white pickup truck. Deputies pursued the male westward on Highway 14 until they had to discontinue the pursuit for safety.
