On December 26, 2018, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Co-Responder Unit (one deputy and one behavioral health specialist) went to the Fort Collins Rescue Mission at 316 Jefferson Street to follow-up on an unrelated case.  When they arrived, a man was kicking the front door of the Mission and arguing with others outside.  The deputy tried to calm him down and prevent him from kicking the door.  The man violently resisted and additional deputies and officers with Fort Collins Police Services were called to assist.

The man was eventually restrained and taken into custody.  He was identified as Robert Lloyd Alworth (09/08/1970), a local transient.  During transport to the Larimer County Jail, Alworth repeatedly slammed his head against the partition in the patrol car resulting in cuts and scrapes.  Alworth also resisted deputies at the jail and had to be restrained in a booking cell.  No deputies or police officers were injured.

Alworth was booked on allegations of Resisting Arrest (Class 2 Misdemeanor) and Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor).  Bond was set at $100.  A booking photo is attached.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
