Commissioners are introducing Larimer County’s new Veteran Service Officer, David Fry, to the community in their summer Citizen Meetings throughout the county (see details below). Fry brings a background of 13 years in the military and a desire to see veterans successfully integrating back to civilian life.

The veterans these days have a higher number of deployments, Fry said in the Fort Collins meeting at Dazbog Coffee. When they return home with injuries and mental health issues such as PTSD, the first step is helping them secure funding. Fry’s team helps a reported 23,000 Larimer County veterans process their benefit claims and connect to the VA Medical Center in Fort Collins. Their careful attention to detail translates to opportunities that otherwise may have been missed in the overloaded federal claims system. Fry helps educate veterans on what claims are appropriate to file for and how to receive the full benefits they are due.

Fry is passionate about helping veterans transition to careers with an ability to successfully manage their finances. The Veteran Service office shares a floor with the Economic and Workforce Development where Michael Foster, (part of DVOP- Disabled Veterans Outreach Program) helps veterans apply for jobs and connect with training programs.

To access these services, visit the 5th floor of the County Courthouse Offices at 200 West Oak Street, open Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
