Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) was recently detected in wild and domestic birds in Larimer County. HPAI can affect wild birds even if they are not showing any symptoms. In a flock of domestic birds, avian influenza is a fast-spreading and deadly virus, with a mortality rate of more than 90% in just a few days.

The Larimer County Board of Health has proclaimed January 2023 Radon Action Month, and the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is urging residents to test their homes for radon. LCDHE has a limited number of free home radon test kits available for the public to pick up at a variety of locations in Larimer County.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Congress authorized emergency allotments to help meet food needs. The emergency allotments were temporary and will end in March 2023, decreasing the total amount of benefits each month for SNAP households in Colorado.
