Larimer county is 2,640 square miles and is comprised of both urban and rural mountainous areas.  Due to the unique location and size of the county, providing law enforcement services is a challenging endeavor.  The law enforcement jurisdiction is broken down into seven Areas.  Areas 1 through 5 are known as our "Valley Patrol" due to the fact they are comprised of the urban areas of the county to include the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland.  Our Mountain Squad is made up of Areas 6 and 7, which constitutes the majority of our rural mountainous areas.  Area 6 covers the Estes Valley and operates out of a satellite office, while Area 7 covers the Red Feather, Livermore, and Glacier View areas.  The Patrol Division is also tasked with providing contracted law enforcement services to the citizens of the Towns of Wellington and Berthoud.
