Limited Access to On-Site Education Programs

Larimer County Department of Natural Resources currently has limited education programs at trailheads within the system.

Please enjoy nature responsibly at our sites or close to home with some of our other education resourcesFor guidance on how to stay safe and healthy while visiting our parks, open spaces, and trails, view these tips and if you do go out to an open space please follow the Leave No Trace Principles

Natural Resources is focused on ensuring employees, their families, volunteers, and visitors are safe. As this evolving situation unfolds, we will be monitoring and adjusting our response to ensure the continued safety of our community.

We offer naturalist led programs and field trips for schools and community groups. Potential topics include: geology, ecology, cultural history, local conservation and more. We can  work with your group to design a program that meets your specific objectives.

All Pre K-12 education groups wishing to utilize Larimer County's parks or open spaces for programming without a Larimer County Naturalist need to fill out the program request form below. Requesting a date for your group to visit helps Larimer County staff know there is an education group onsite and helps to ensure safety and the best experience for you and your group. When requesting a date for an education program for your pre K-12 school group or a recognized community organization, no fees apply. Thank you

All Higher education programs groups that would like to visit on a weekend day and are not requesting a naturalist guide, will need to fill out a Special Event Application . The application fee is waived for educational groups.

Limited funding for school bus transportation is available for Title I schools. Please contact Angela Borland at if you would like to receive information on aid to cover the cost of fuel and labor for your field trip.
