Tuition ReimbursementThe purpose of the Tuition Reimbursement Program is to encourage and provide assistance to employees wanting to further their professional development outside their departments’ job-related training opportunities. The County provides tuition assistance on a calendar year basis through a non-taxable reimbursement program administered by the Human Resources Department.

Employee annual maximum reimbursement rates are:

  • $1,000 per calendar year for full time employees
  • $500 per calendar year for part time employees

To participate in the tuition reimbursement program you must:

  • Be a full time (40 hours per week) or part-time (20-39 hours per week) regular, employee. Limited Term, temporary, seasonal, or contractual individuals are not eligible to participate in the program.
  • Complete two years continuous employment with Larimer County before you can apply.
  • Recipients must be employed with Larimer County at the time reimbursement is issued.  If employees leave the county prior to being reimbursed, their funds will be forfeited. Employee must stay employed with Larimer County for one year post reimbursement.
  • Fully complete an application and submit required paperwork outlined in the application.
  • All coursework must be taken at accredited colleges and universities; vocational, technical and trade schools.
  • Online classes are acceptable.
  • Courses eligible are those that are job-related or would have a relevant link to an existing position within the County, not personal interests (i.e. dancing, painting, etc...).
  • Certificate programs from accredited colleges; vocational, technical and trade schools are eligible for reimbursement.
  • Only tuition, student and lab fees are funded; textbooks will be reimbursed at 50%; meals, travel and late fees are not funded.
  • All applications submitted for reimbursement approval must be authorized by both the direct supervisor and the Appointing Authority. The Human Resources Department will review the application to determine program eligibility.
  • Successfully complete the training course with a letter grade of “C” or better (or a “Pass” grade in the case of a pass/fail graded course)
  • Maintain standard or above on performance duties and satisfactory job conduct throughout the course
  • Reimbursement funds will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The availability of tuition reimbursement funds will be subject to annual funding approved in the annual County budget.

This is a not an all inclusive list of accredited colleges/Universities, and completing a class at one of these colleges listed (or not listed) does not guarantee a tuition reimbursement.
