The Guidelines for SMART EATING OPPORTUNITIES is a resource for departments and employees. It contains guidelines, tips, and ideas for providing nutritious food and refreshment options at County-sponsored meetings and events. When County dollars are used to provide food and refreshments for employees, it is important that there is at least be an opportunity for employees to make a nutritious choice. This resource has been made by the Wellness Committees and has received support from Senior Management Team, Department and Division Heads, and Chief Deputies.

While the main focus of this resource is on foods and beverages purchased with County dollars (at meetings and events), employees are also asked and encouraged to be mindful of the foods they bring in to share with other employees and to consider adopting at least some of the ideas and tips in order to show support for others' health.
