Vaccinations are key to a healthy school year.

Another school year has started in Larimer County! We want to make sure it will be a healthy one for kids and their families. It is important to make sure your children are up-to-date on their vaccines. Colorado has immunization requirements for students entering kindergarten through high school. Students who are not in compliance with immunization rules are excluded from school until they meet the requirements. Check your children’s vaccination records now and make sure their vaccines are up-to-date. Talk with a doctor or healthcare professional to find out which vaccines are recommended for school-aged children.

Kids and teens ages 12-17 are eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, and you can find an appointment here. Other important childhood vaccines include ("chickenpox"), measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis ("whooping cough"), influenza, human papillomavirus (HPV), tetanus, and many others.

For more information about measles and the MMR vaccine, click here. For more information about the Colorado immunization requirements for school and childcare, visit the state health department website.

Parents, we’re calling on you to do your part to keep our community safe. Check your children’s records or check with your health care provider to make sure they are up-to-date on all their vaccinations. Here are some tools to help:

  • COVaxRecords.org directs people on how to request vaccination records for their children.
  • COVaxRates.org makes it easy for parents and guardians look up vaccination and exemption rates for schools and childcare facilities in Colorado so they can make the best decision for their children.
  • COVax4Kids.org helps people find out if their children are eligible for low- or no-cost vaccines and helps them find a provider who gives them.
