HAE

In Larimer County, we are unsure of the impacts of the opioid epidemic on our youth. We know there have been a few overdoses of opioids in our community of people under the age of 21.

Evidence shows that the age of exposure to opioids can play a role in future addiction. Brain tissue in young adults is more vulnerable, opioid use in 12 - 18 year olds increases the risk of those individuals becoming addicted later in their life.

Our community can help limit youth use of opioids by limiting that availability of opioids in our community and by having strong parental involvement in our children.
