CANCELED: Trail Project for National Public Lands Day

This project has been canceled. Please check our calendar for future volunteer projects.

Celebrate National Public Lands Day with us by assisting Larimer County Natural Resources Trail Crew with maintenance on Horsetooth Falls trail.

Horsetooth Falls trail is a very popular hiking trail and sees lots of use in the summer. This means wear and tear occurs on the trail and it requires maintenance each fall. Help our trail crew bring a section of trail back to a sustainable standard. Project will be of moderate difficultly. Meet at the main entrance for Horsetooth Mountain Open Space.

Volunteers will need to be able to hike ~1.25 miles carrying two trail hand tools and supplies for the day. They will be using/swinging tools to move dirt, dig and create drainage features, use loppers/hand saws to remove vegetation, carry/lift rocks, use buckets/wheelbarrows to move material, and/or any other kind of physical labor needed to improve the trail.

Volunteers will need to bring:
A mask (wear at your comfort level)
Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
Work gloves (some will be provided)
Wear closed-toe shoes
Water & re-fillable water bottle
Insect repellant
Clothing appropriate for the weather
Backpack (to carry it all)
Hand sanitizer (optional)

A day parking pass will be provided.
