Budburst Program Introduction
Start participating in citizen science while your walking the trails in Larimer County. Join Paul Alaback, a professor emeritus of ecology from University of Montana, who has been teaching and doing research on the ecology of forests, grasslands, and natural disturbances for over 30 years. He was one of the scientists involved with starting the nation wide citizen science Budburst program in 2007. He also has authored or co authored a number of plant field guides including the Larimer County foothills plant guide. He is also a volunteer naturalist with Larimer County and for the Loveland Parks program, and is working with the Colorado Native Plant Society to develop a statewide volunteer network for monitoring plant phenology and environmental change. This will be a 1 hour zoom meeting to introduce you to the basics of the Budburst Program.
