Vehicle Licensing COVID-19 Options
It was determined that some registrations processed on or after July 1, 2020 may have been charged incorrect late fees. If you were charged a late fee in error, there is no need to request the refund, overpayments will be automatically mailed in the month of November.
Option 1 - REQUEST CONTACT
We are here to help during this difficult time! You can request to be contacted 24 hours a day at plates@larimer.org. A technician will respond to help you with your vehicle licensing questions or give you guidance to complete your specific transactions.
Option 2 - PHONE
There are many processes you can accomplish over the phone. Phone staff will be available to assist you with your transactions from 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday, call (970) 498-7878, option 5. Your patience is appreciated — hold times may be a bit longer as call volumes rise.
Option 3 - ONLINE
There are many Vehicle Licensing transactions that you can now accomplish online by going to www.Larimer.org/Eservices.
- Renew your license plates (even if you’re late)
- Replace tabs or plates
- Estimate registration fees
- Apply for a first-time disability placard
- Out of State Emission Extension
- Request a duplicate title
- Transaction Receipt
- Change your address
- Renew disability placard
- Request a duplicate registration card
You may also go directly to mydmv.colorado.gov for additional services including:
- Complete a first-time registration
- Report Release of Liability
Option 4 - MAIL
- Make checks payable to Larimer County Clerk and Recorder
- Mailing address: PO Box 1429, Fort Collins, CO 80522
- Please call our office at (970) 498-7878, option 5, before submitting other transactions by mail
Option 5 - IN PERSON TRANSACTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Note: Because there are so many other options for completing license renewals, they will not be handled in person. Instead, please use one of the other options listed below.
- Renew Online at www.larimer.org/renewplates
- Visit a renewal kiosk in Loveland, Fort Collins or another location in Colorado. See larimer.org/kiosk
- Mail your renewal to our office at PO Box 1429, Fort Collins, CO 80522
- Drop your renewal (with check payment) into the “Renewal Drop Box” located in the lobby of the Fort Collins or Loveland offices
To make an appointment for:
- Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park, visit larimer.org/bookatime. In order to maintain our appointment schedule, no more than 2 transactions may be completed in each appointment time slot. If you have more than 2 transactions, you will need to make additional appointments.
- Colorado car dealerships, fleet companies and courier services are required to make an appointment for paperwork drop off only.
Option 6 - SELF SERVICE KIOSK
You can renew your plates (even if you’re late) at our self-serve kiosks, which are located in grocery stores – still a public place, but you may have to go to the grocery store anyway and can pick less busy hours if you desire. Go to www.Larimer.org/Kiosk for location details.
