FAQs

  1. Community Development Drop Off/Pick Up

Due to changing conditions, the State has moved from a "Stay at Home" order to a "Safer at Home" order.  The Public Health Department has been working with others in the County and many partners from other organizations on defining regulations and guidelines for residents, businesses and local governments. As additional information is developed, and incremental decisions are made, additional announcements will occur regarding changes to operational practices.

Staff is highly encouraging all documents for pick up or submittal to be done via mail or electronically.  If this is not an option, please make an appointment to drop off or pick up plans from Community Development. Please call 970-498-7683 (Fort Collins office) or 970-577-2102 (Estes Park office) to schedule an appointment.

  2. Submittals and issuance of plans, permits, contractor licenses or other documents can be submitted via buckets located in the third floor lobby. Review of plans, permit applications and contractor licenses will continue, as will building inspections, with much of our staff either teleworking or practicing social distancing in the office and in the field. Please call 498-7700 to schedule an appointment. Using our on-line portal, fees may be paid, miscellaneous permits applied for, inspections scheduled, contractor licenses processed, and more. 3.

Building inspectors will not perform in person inspections on any structure where a person is under self or medically ordered quarantine.

If you schedule an inspection of an occupied space, please request one using our on-line portal, and please make sure that no one in the building has been sick, no one is showing any coronavirus symptoms, minimize the number of people who will be present for the inspection, maintain social distancing and wear a mask.

Remote video inspections are also available. Please click on this link for more detailed information: Video Inspections.   We can use Remote Video Inspections for occupied spaces.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time. For questions or concerns related to building inspection requests, please contact Lead Building Inspector Mark Tewsley at tewslemd@co.larimer.co.us.

  4. No. Construction is permitted to continue, though social distancing recommendations and hygiene protocols must be followed. For additional details on the requirements for construction sites, click here.
