The chart below shows the prices received by the
Larimer County Recycling Center
for the various types of recyclables processed there. Prices fluctuate constantly,
and the chart shows the prices at just one point in time. Still, from this you can
easily see how the market values for different recyclables compare. For instance, aluminum tends
to command the highest prices per ton, with paper products getting lower prices. (Of course, it
takes a lot of aluminum to equal a ton, compared with, say, newspaper!)
A Brief Explanation of Plastics
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastics include items such as soda and other drink bottles.
HDPE-N (high density polyethylene-natural) includes milk jugs and other similar "natural-colored" containers.
HDPE-C (high density polyethylene-colored) includes brightly colored items such as laundry detergent bottles.
