Waste-Not Recycling, Sertoma International and Advocate Construction, Inc. are sponsoring an electronics recycling collection event. Computers and other electronics will be collected Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the southeast parking area of Front Range Community College near the intersection of Shields and Harmony Roads in Fort Collins.
The process of reclaiming lead and other toxic metals from electronics waste, commonly known as "e-waste," is expensive and complex, so expect to pay a small fee of $5-$15.00 to turn in monitors, computers, printers, faxes, scanners, and televisions. Some equipment, such as computer peripherals (mice and keyboards), cell phones, and personal digital assistants (PDAs) will be collected at no cost. For more information, contact Waste-Not Recycling at (970) 669-9912, or visit www.waste-not.com.
If you miss this event, you can still recycle your e-waste. The Larimer County Recycling Center collects electronics for recycling year round. Also, the City of Fort Collins has a list other local recyclers on its website.
