After two years without a local site for the disposal of household trash, Red Feather Lakes residents will once again have a waste transfer station nearby. Larimer County opens the Red Feather Lakes waste transfer station Saturday, November 4. Join us for a pre-opening celebration with refreshments Thursday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A transfer station allows residents in rural areas to drop off household trash locally instead of having to take it to the county landfill in Fort Collins. The county pays to have the trash periodically hauled from the transfer station to the landfill.
The new transfer station is located on Red Feather Lakes Road. Customers should enter through the U.S. Forest Service entrance between Parvin and West Lakes. The new site will be open the first Saturday of each month from November through April, and every Saturday from May through October. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only household trash is accepted, and items must be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet. Cash, check, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. More information about county transfer stations is available on this Website, or call the Larimer County Solid Waste Department at 498-5760.
The transfer station is set up in collaboration with the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service.
