Directions to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office

Map to Administration and Detention

Most functions of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office except fire response and search and rescue are located at a single campus on Midpoint drive in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Administration building (970 498-5100) is located at 2501 Midpoint Drive and houses the Office of the Sheriff, Civil Process, Emergency Communications, Investigations, Patrol, Records, and most administrative support staff. The Detention Center (970 498-5200) is located at 2405 Midpoint drive and houses pre and post sentenced inmates, Security (including booking and release), Transportation, and Inmate Programs. The Alternative Sentencing Unit is also located at 2405 Midpoint drive and houses Work Release, Useful Public Service, and Home Detention programs.

Midpoint drive is near (southeast of) the major intersection of Prospect and Timberline in Fort Collins. From out of town the best route to Midpoint drive is to exit Interstate Highway 25 at the Prospect exit (exit 268) of Fort Collins. Proceed westbound on Prospect approximately 3 miles to the second stoplight, Prospect Parkway. Turn left (southbound) onto Prospect Parkway and travel 1 block, where it will dead-end at Midpoint drive. Depending on your destination follow the bulleted directions below.

  • To go to the administration building, turn left (eastbound) onto Midpoint drive and travel approximately 2 blocks (Midpoint will curve to the right around the detention center). The administration building is located on your right at 2501 Midpoint (numbers on the building and sign) and has a sign next to the driveway that says "Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Administration". You will turn right into the driveway just south of the sign to enter the parking lot.
  • To go to the Detention Center or the Alternative Sentencing Unit, turn right (westbound) onto Midpoint drive. The detention center building is located immediately on your left at 2405 Midpoint (numbers on the building and sign) and has a sign next to the driveway that says "Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Detention Center, Alternative Sentencing". Turn left into the driveway just west of the sign to enter the parking lot.

From within Fort Collins you can approach the Sheriff's Office on Prospect or Timberline. Midpoint drive is near (southeast of) the major intersection of Prospect and Timberline. Depending on your direction of approach to this intersection follow the instructions below:

Westbound on Prospect - Follow the directions above exactly as if you were coming from Interstate Highway 25.

Eastbound on Prospect - Proceed two blocks east of the intersection of Prospect and Timberline to the next stoplight, Prospect Parkway. Turn right (southbound) onto Prospect Parkway and travel one block, where it will dead-end at Midpoint drive. From this point, depending on your destination, follow the bulleted directions above.

Southbound on Timberline - You must turn left onto eastbound Prospect as left turns are not allowed at Midpoint Drive and Timberline. When eastbound on Prospect proceed two blocks east of the intersection of Prospect and Timberline to the next stoplight, Prospect Parkway. Turn right (southbound) onto Prospect Parkway and travel one block, where it will dead-end at Midpoint drive. From this point, depending on your destination, follow the bulleted directions above.

Northbound on Timberline - You will be able to turn onto eastbound Midpoint drive approximately one block before you reach Prospect (bottom of a hill and just across the railroad tracks). As you drive east on Midpoint drive you will see the Detention Center and the Alternative Sentencing Unit first on your right at 2405 Midpoint drive, then Midpoint will curve to the south around the Detention Center where you will see the Administration building on your right at 2501 Midpoint drive.

Fire Response and Search and Rescue

Fire response and both search and rescue teams (SAR and Dive) are located at the Emergency Services Center (970 498-5300) at 1304 north Shields in Fort Collins, Colorado. From out of town the best route to Shields street is to exit Interstate Highway 25 at the Highway 14 (Mulberry) (exit 269B) exit of Fort Collins. Proceed westbound on Highway 14 (Mulberry) approximately 5 miles to the major intersection of Mulberry and Shields. Turn right (northbound) onto Shields Street and travel approximately 2 miles to 1304 north Shields. The Emergency Services Center is a metal building inside a fenced yard that also contains a gravel parking lot. The center will be on your left, just past the river bridge and before Shields ponds. There is a sign next to a gate that marks the entrance to the parking lot. From within Fort Collins, just proceed north on Shields Street, following the directions above.
