Sheriff's Office Mission & Values
Mission Statement:
We, the Larimer County Sheriff's Department, in a partnership with the public, commit ourselves to improve the quality of life within our communities. We will promote a safe environment, self-sufficiency, and a sense of security by providing excellent educational and public safety services with consistent and equitable treatment.
Value Statement:
- We believe that life and individual freedoms, as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, are sacred.
- We believe in the fair and equitable treatment of all individuals and will treat all people with courtesy and respect, dignity and compassion.
- We value the good reputation of our profession and the Office of Larimer County Sheriff, and will seek to meet the highest public standards. We will demonstrate the utmost in honesty and integrity in all we do through ethical behavior.
- We accept full responsibility and accountability for our actions.
- We value respect for the rule of law and the dignity of all human beings.
- We adhere to the following principles of quality leadership:
- Believe in, foster, and support teamwork.
- Be committed to the problem-solving process, use it and let data, not emotions drive decisions.
- Seek employees’ input before making key decisions.
- Believe that the best way to improve the quality of work or service is to ask and listen to employees who are doing the work. Strive to develop mutual respect and trust among employees.
- Have a customer orientation and focus toward employees and citizens.
- Manage on the behavior of 95% of employees and not the 5% who cause problems, and deal with the 5% promptly and fairly.
- Improve systems and examine processes before blaming people. Avoid “top-down,” power-oriented decision- making whenever possible.
- Encourage creativity through risk-taking and being tolerant of honest mistakes.
- Be a facilitator and coach.
- Develop an open atmosphere that encourages providing and accepting feedback.
