Answers on Aging Resource Guide
The Resource Guide is published annually. Listing in the guide are reviewed and updated annually to ensure up to date, accurate information. The guide includes resources, programs, agencies and services for older and disabled adults in Larimer County. The Resource Guide includes information on: General Information and Assistance, Community Involvement Opportunities, Financial Assistance, General Health, Housing Information, Housing Options, Nutrition, Healthcare Assistance, Supportive Services, Office on Aging Services and other helpful information.

The Larimer County Office on Aging provides these five senior housing lists as a community service.

  • Assisted Living Residences
    Assisted Living Residences are designed for individuals who require help with activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, medications etc.) but do not need the skilled medical care provided in a nursing facility. Care is provided 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and includes meals. This is a list of all of the licensed assisted living residences in Larimer County and includes information on rates, size, if bathrooms are shared or private, if they accept Medicaid, and if the facility has a secured unit.
  • Independent Living Facilities
    Independent living facilities offer seniors a community lifestyle with additional benefits including some meals and planned recreation activities. This housing list gives contact information, information on monthly rates, facility size, meal inclusion and if pets are allowed.
    Included in this resource are tips for choosing an independent living facility.
  • Nursing Facilities
    Nursing facilities are designed to provide 24-hour nursing care for those incapable of functioning independently due to chronic illness, disabling injury, cognitive deficits, or the need for short-term rehabilitation. Some facilities have specialized units for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. This list includes rates, facility size, what rehab services are available, if they accept Medicaid and/or have a contract for Veterans services, and if they have a secured unit.
  • Senior Affordable Housing
    There are several types of subsidized housing programs for lower income seniors in Larimer County. Income limits, pet restrictions, waiting lists and amount of rent vary from one program to another. The housing list can help you understand your options and includes contact information, age restrictions and if pets are allowed. This resource also provides contact information for the Housing Authority in Fort Collins, Loveland and Estes Park.

Larimer County Office on Aging (LCOA) Annual Report

This report shows the sources and amounts of funding the LCOA receives and how the funds are utilized to support older adults in Larimer County. Review the Larimer County Office on Aging Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2015-16.

CASOA (Community Assessment Surveys for Older Adults)

The Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA) was conducted by the National Research Center under contract with the LCOA in 2014. The first assessment was completed in 2010. Information from the survey is meant to be used as a planning tool for the Office on Aging as well as community partners.

Larimer County Four Year Plan

Every four years, every Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in Colorado is required to develop and submit to the State Unit on Aging a plan based on the needs of people 60 and over in their communities. The plan focuses on services to be provided during the ensuing four years by the AAA. See the Larimer County Office on Aging Four Year Plan for 2015 - 2019.
