Artists of all ages — grab your paint brushes, pencils, and cameras and help inspire public appreciation of open spaces through your art work! The selected “Artist of the Year” will have the opportunity to create a piece of visual art inspired by a Larimer County park or open space which they will donate to the County. The Larimer County Natural Resources Department will host a public celebration of the final submitted artwork, will display the work for public viewing in a Larimer County building, and will publicize the selected artist whenever appropriately possible. The artist will host one public art-related program in order to increase the public’s appreciation of open spaces through art.

The Visual Artist for 2013 has been selected! Fiber artist Linda Beach will create a work of art inspired by Larimer County’s parks and open spaces. Linda has been creating art quilts since 2001, serving as artist in residence at several national parks and exhibiting in numerous locations throughout Colorado and the U.S. You can learn more about Linda and her art by visiting her website at:

In Linda’s words, “I am extremely excited to have been chosen for this honor. Interpreting and expressing the beauty found in nature is what drives my art and I look forward to the process of creating a piece that represents a unique location in Larimer County and sharing that artwork with the public. ” Linda will spend her term visiting Larimer County’s parks and open spaces getting inspiration for her work, and will ultimately create a fiber art piece that she will donate to Larimer County for public display in a county building. This artwork will be unveiled at a celebration in late 2013 or early 2014.
