LOVELAND, Colo. – Construction will take place near the Pleasant Valley Trail starting Monday, July 24, resulting in a temporary closure to a section of the trail.
Xcel Energy is installing a new gas line adjacent to Rist Canyon Road west of Laporte, Colo. This will create a closure to the westernmost portion of the Pleasant Valley Trail, from the bridge where the trail crosses the Cache la Poudre River in Bellvue, Colo., to its endpoint at the entrance to Watson Fish Hatchery.
Construction of the gas line is expected to be completed in mid- to late August of 2017. Once work is completed, the closed section of the trail will reopen.
The Pleasant Valley Trail is a paved trail and a continuation of the popular Poudre River Trail after it enters Lions Open Space in Laporte. Cyclists, walkers and others can use the trail until they reach the closure.
Updates on the trail's reopening will be posted on Larimer County Department of Natural Resources' website, www.larimer.org/naturalresources, and www.NoCoTrailReport.org.
