Larimer County Buildings Certify for "ENERGY STAR' for 2013

Three Larimer County facilities have been certified as ‘ENERGY STAR’’ buildings for 2013. The certified buildings are:
- The Larimer County Justice Center at 201 LaPorte, Fort Collins
- Larimer County Courthouse Offices Bldg. at 200 W Oak St., Fort Collins
- 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins
Steven L Balderson, Larimer County Facilities Operations Group Manager says that Energy Star is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses save money while protecting the climate through energy efficiency, “ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants cost less to operate and help protect the environment. On average, these buildings use 35 percent less energy and cause 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than comparable buildings across the country. “
To earn ENERGY STAR certification, a facility must operate among the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide. For information on ENERGY STAR and other buildings in our region that received this rating, visit: http://www.energystar.gov/about/
