Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 909 competed at the Law Enforcement Explorer Post Advisors Association annual competition held in Gunnison, Colorado.  This is the sixteenth year for Post 909 to compete at this conference, and again they came home with both team and individual awards.  This year Post 909 placed in the following team events: first, second, and fourth in High Risk Traffic Stops, second and fifth place in Suspicious Circumstance, third in Incident Command Systems/Hazmat, third in Night Time Tactical, first in Passive Resistance Scenario, and first in Death Investigation.  In the individual competitions members of Post 909 placed in the following events: first and fourth DUI Investigation. Congratulations to our Explorers and to all who participated in this event.

Members of Post 909 were placed into smaller teams, and competed against approximately 220 explorers representing agencies from Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Law Enforcement exploring is a program for male and female youths between the ages of fifteen and twenty-one.  The program is nationally recognized through Learning for Life and the Boy Scouts of America.  In the program, the youths learn about careers in law enforcement, leadership skills, character development, communication, team building, and networking skills.  Post 909 is also active in community service, and they volunteer an average of 3,500 hours of community service around Larimer County ever year.
