Larimer County has begun a right-of-way silt removal project for a limited time. This project is eligible for Larimer County residents who reside on Larimer County maintained roads and for SILT REMOVAL ONLY. This also DOES NOT include state highways such as U.S Highway 34 or 36. All other flood related debris projects have finished and all debris besides silt will not be removed and must be taken to the Larimer County Landfill.
Home owners are urged to remove silt from their private property and place it along the right of way along the county maintained Larimer County roads for removal. Silt is defined as fine sand carried by moving or running water and deposited as sediment. Large rocks, woody debris, and other flood related materials are not included in this program.
Larimer County has set up a hotline, 970-498-5652, for citizens to call for additional information and to report the location of their silt.
- Residents’ calls informing Larimer County of silt locations need to be placed by June 15th.
- This number is strictly for silt removal as no other debris will be collected and/or removed at this time.
- Residents are required to inform Larimer County once you have collected the silt at the county right of way for removal.
- The new silt collection project will end by June 30th due to the resumption of regularly scheduled road maintenance that would need clear path right-of-ways and no additional removal will take place after June 30th.
This program is for private property landowners only and businesses will not be eligible at this time. If silt is mixed with other debris, flood related or otherwise, residents may be charged for the disposal of these materials. If you have any questions or concerns please call the silt removal hotline at 970-498-5652.
