Larimer County - SERVE 6.8 Provides Sandbags, Welcomes Volunteers

SERVE 6.8 Volunteers Fill Sandbags at The Ranch

Sandbags are available free in Larimer County to provide post-fire & flood protection to areas impacted by the High Park Fire and 2013 Flood.

SERVE 6.8 is managing the program, coordinating volunteers and property owners requesting sandbags, and is scheduling convenient staging areas for filled sandbag pickup. Currently:
  • Sandbags are available for immediate pick-up in Drake at CDOT (Colorado Dept. of Transportation) Property/Schaffer Property at the intersection of CR43 and HWY 34. For those interested in picking up empty sandbags please contact SERVE 6.8 at or 970-231-6445
  • Information for how to construct proper sandbag protection can be found at and click the ‘2014 Riverwatch: Flood Preparedness’ tab in the right hand column. 
  • Volunteer opportunities are available through SERVE 6.8, every Saturday 9:00-2:00 (NOT MAY 31st) Through July 19th. Other service work day opportunities are available for Corporate Work Groups. They will continue filling sand bags at Larimer County’s The Ranch (Budweiser Events Center & Events Complex), enter the north entrance off of CR 5. They are also always looking for skid steer operators for this site. Their efforts will be to continue to fill sand bags as needed; there is a very high demand. They estimating thousands of bags will be needed throughout Larimer County. Lunch will be provided.
