March Guided Hikes and Programs on Larimer County Open Spaces

Guided Hikes and Events

·         Tuesday, March 4 at 9:15 a.m. “Tiny Trekkers at the Loveland Library” Join Larimer County Naturalists at the Loveland Public Library this winter for a nature-filled program designed for your 2-5 year old and you. This will be a morning filled with crafts, stories, fun facts and some outside time if the weather is nice. A parent or guardian must accompany the child for this hour long program. Program is free. ·         Saturday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. “Moon Over My Open Space” Join a Volunteer Naturalist for a moonlit walk at Devil’s Backbone Open Space, located just west of Loveland off of Hwy 34, to look for nighttime critters and learn about owls. Approximately 2 hour hike. Hike rating: Easy. Program is free but registration is required. Please go to larimer.org/NRregistration to sign up. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring along some water to drink. Direct questions to Heather at (970) 619-4489.
 
·         Saturday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. “Twig Out!” Join us for this guided hike from ecologist and naturalist Paul Alaback to learn how to identify trees and shrubs in the winter, when leaves and flowers are scarce at the Devil’s Backbone Open Space, located just west of Loveland off of Hwy 34. Approximately 2 hour program. Hike rating: Easy. Please wear layers and appropriate footwear and come with water and snacks for the trail.
