The Galena fire is at 85% containment and remains at 1348 acres.

Some personnel were released overnight bringing the total number of firefighters on the fire down to 80.

The plan for today includes securing lines and continued mop-up operations.

There is a Red Flag warning for the fire area and Larimer County today.  Low humidity and winds continue to be a concern.  Windy conditions means there will be limited air support from the one Type 2 helicopter today. The second helicopter was released yesterday.

While air support is important, it is firefighters on the ground that ultimately put out the fire.

Two additional minor injuries were reported this morning bringing to four the number of firefighters injured during operations. All injuries were minor and the firefighters were treated and released at a local hospital.  The steep terrain in the area is the primary cause for the injuries as most of them are knee and ankle injuries.

Pre-evacuation notices were cancelled last night but residents are asked to remain alert for changing conditions.
