Larimer County Sheriff's Office
John Schulz, Public Information Officer
Larimer County Sheriff's Office investigators are investigating reports from Fort Collins and Bellvue postal officials of the theft of mail and damage to cluster mailboxes. Numerous complaints have been received from postal customers and postal inspectors have also been called in to investigate.
Cluster boxes in the 3800-block of Sky Ridge Lane as well as near the intersection of Lodgepole Drive and Red Ridge Trail were damaged over the weekend as someone pried open the back of the boxes and removed mail. It appears a number of cluster boxes throughout Rist Canyon may have been affected. In addition to missing mail, postal customers are also reporting receiving mail that belongs to someone else. These incidents are estimated to have impacted numerous postal customers in the noted area.
Investigators are asking postal customers to report any instance of suspected mail theft to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. Residents are also asked to be alert for any unusual activity occurring around cluster mailboxes and notify the Sheriff's Office immediately.
Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868 where you will remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
