The inaugural Jailbreak 4-Mile Family Run/Walk held this past weekend was deemed a full success by organizers and participants alike. The Jailbreak Run will benefit the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). While the final expenses and last minute registrations are still being tallied, it appears that the Jailbreak Run will contribute more than $10,000 to the CAC.

There were 376 registered participants for the race which awarded first, second and third place prizes in eight age categories for both men and women. Luke Oft was the overall men's winner with a time of 21:11.2 while Sarah Baysden was the top overall female finisher with a time of 26:34.2. Full race results are available at http://www.jailbreak4mile.com/race-results/ .

Sheriff Justin Smith was exceptionally pleased with the large turnout for a first-year event. "Thanks to the volunteers, the Jailbreak Run was extremely successful and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to making it an annual event," said Sheriff Smith. Over 400 hours were donated by Sheriff's office employees and others in preparing for the event.

In addition to the race itself, the event included exhibits and demonstrations from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office SWAT, K-9, Crime Scene Investigation and Wildland fire teams as well as the Larimer County Search and Rescue Team in addition to exhibits by some of the sponsors.

The Child Advocacy Center serving Larimer County is a nonprofit organization that provides victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members access to support and services in a safe, compassionate environment. The CAC also works to prevent child abuse through education, serves as an informational resource for those unsure of how to report child abuse, and acts as an educational resource to the community about child abuse.
