The Larimer County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 909 will host an open house for interested youth and their parents on Monday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sheriff's Administration Building at 2501 Midpoint Drive in Fort Collins.
LCSO Explorer Post 909 is designed for youths between the ages of 15 1/2 and 20 years old. The post gives youth the opportunity to learn more about careers in law enforcement. Besides learning about law enforcement, Post 909 also has an emphasis on leadership, networking, communication, and team building. Currently Post 909 is limited to 20 members, and they recruit and train new explorers in the fall.
The cost to be a member of Post 909 is $30 dollars annually. Eligibility requirements are:
· Be 15 1/2 to 20 years old
· Have no serious arrests or convictions
· Have and maintain good moral character
· Pass an oral interview
· Pass an integrity interview
· Pass a written exercise
· Pass a background investigation
· Maintain a "C" Average in all school work.
· Demonstrate a willingness to serve and participate in explorer activities.
