On August 20, 2012 late in the evening a female was found in her home by Poudre Fire Authority who were called to the residence which was on fire.  She was transported via ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies and then flight for life to University Hospital in Denver.

The decedent died on August 21, 2012 at 4:47 am at University Hospital.  Investigator James MacNaughton, Larimer County Deputy Coroner took jurisdiction of the decedent.  An autopsy was performed today, August 22, 2012 by James A. Wilkerson IV, MD.

Positive identification has been made.  The decedent is Kathleen Mary Burrell, age 64 of 2620 Lodi Court, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Manner of Death:  Accident

Cause of Death:  Smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

The decedent had received burns to her back, legs and  arms covering approximately 40% of her body.
