The Larimer County Sheriff's Office invites citizens to participate in the inaugural Jailbreak 4-Mile Family Run/Walk. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and will benefit the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
The Jailbreak 4-Mile was the idea of Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith who wanted to create an event to bring members of the community together with members of the Sheriff’s Office in a fun atmosphere, raise money for a beneficial organization, the
Child Advocacy Center, as well as get people up and off the couch on a Saturday morning to do something active.
There will be post-race demonstrations and exhibits by the Sheriff’s Office Posse, SWAT Team, K-9 Unit, Bomb Squad, Crime Scene Investigators and Wild Land Fire/Rescue. You can meet the deputies, see their equipment in action, and learn about their jobs protecting our community.
The Child Advocacy Center serving Larimer County is a nonprofit organization that provides victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members access to support and services in a safe, compassionate environment. The CAC also works to prevent child abuse through education, serves as an informational resource for those unsure of how to report child abuse, and acts as an educational resource to the community about child abuse.
While the CAC works with professionals in human services and law enforcement throughout Larimer County, it is not a city or county organization and relies on the financial support of corporations, small businesses, and individuals to supplement their grant writing and fundraising efforts. The proceeds from the Jailbreak 4-Mile will go toward their operating costs to help them continue to help victims of child abuse. Learn more about the
Child Advocacy Center.
The family-friendly four-mile course begins and ends at the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, 2501 Midpoint Drive in Fort Collins. Registration is $25 in advance or $35 on race day and includes a race tee-shirt. Children in strollers or wagons are free.
